Why do R02 and ITS-AX2 radars only have the normally open and no normally closed functions?
Radar systems are usually designed to be normally open because the main function of radar is to detect and track targets. When no target is detected, the radar does not need to send a signal, thus maintaining concealment and avoiding unnecessary energy consumption. When the radar detects a target, it will activate and send a signal, which ensures that detection is only carried out when necessary, improving efficiency and reducing exposure to the enemy.
In addition, the normally open design of the radar is also related to its working principle. The radar detects the target by emitting electromagnetic waves and receiving the signal reflected by the target. Suppose the radar system is designed to be normally closed. In that case, that is, continuously sending signals will not be able to distinguish between background noise and signals reflected by the target, thus affecting the accuracy of detection. By keeping silent when there is no target, the radar can more clearly identify the real target signal.
Therefore, the normally open design of the radar is to optimize its detection performance and ensure that the target can be effectively detected and tracked while maintaining concealment. This design enables radar to play a key role in military and civilian fields, such as air traffic control, meteorological monitoring, and ocean surveillance.
