S4A long-distance Wiegand to 485 conversion extender data transmission converter
1. Introduction
Most of the access control controllers on the market use Wiegand (WG) interface to connect to the card reader. The standard transmission distance of WG transmission is 100 meters, which is actually 20-60 meters, if the distance between the door access control controller and the card reader is usually too long, which will cause the controller to fail to receive the information from the card reader.
To solve this problem, we developed a Wiegand signal extender (distributor). By converting the WG output of the card reader into a 485 signal, using the transmission advantage of 485, the transmission distance of the WG signal is greatly increased to The theoretical maximum level is 1200 meters. The WG to 485 converter adopts a high anti-interference MCU processing chip, it will automatically detects the working status of the equipment, and automatically resets and resets when the work is abnormal to ensure that the converter never crashes. The external dimensions of the converter: 71 X41 X 23mm, using industrial-specific connectors to ensure convenient and reliable wiring, and can work stably at 7X24 for a long time. It has been running 7X24 on the actual user site for more than 5 years.
The extender adapts to the WG26-WG80 format, and supports various brand card readers, fingerprint machines, face recognition machines, card readers and other devices.
2. Features of WG Extender
RS485 theoretical maximum transmission distance 1200 meters, measured 500 meters+
The extender does not divide the receiving end and the sending end.
Both transmitter and receiver must be powered, power supply 9-24V/30mA
The sending end can share power with the card reader.
Adaptive WG26-WG80 format, including: WG26/34/35/36/37/40/42/50/56/66/80
Signal delay is about 50-150ms
3. Installation and use of Wiegand extender and distributor
One-to-one wiring method (extender)
The extender is composed of a sending converter and a receiving converter.
The sending converter is connected to the card reader and the receiving converter is connected to the controller.
Among them, the D0/D1/GND/+12V of the converter is connected to the D0/D1/GND/+12V of the card reader/controller respectively.
The power supply can be shared with the WG reader/controller power supply. Use twisted pair cable to connect A-A B-B between the sending and receiving converters, as shown in the figure:
Multiple-to-one wiring method
The multiple-to-one connection method can collectively send the output signals of multiple WG readers to one controller. This wiring method requires that only one WG reader has a signal output at the same time.If multiple WG readers send output signals at the same time, this method cannot be used. The advantage of this method is only need 1pcs controller.
Specifically, it is composed of multiple transmitting converters and a receiving converter. The WG reading head is connected to the transmitting converter, and the receiving converter is connected to the Wiegand interface of the controller, and the controller provides power. Use twisted pair cables between the converters to connect A-A B-B (up to 8 sending converters can be connected in parallel at the same time), as shown in the figure:
The reader needs time-sharing to swipe the card
Parallel connection of up to 8 channels at the same time
4. Power supply
The receiver and transmitter converters need to use a 915/10A power supply, with a static operating current of about 20mA. The receiving end can directly use the 12V power supply of the WG interface of the access controller, and the sending end can share the power supply with the WG reading head or can be connected to an external 9-12v power adapter.
5. please pay attention to the following points when installing and using the extender
>The GND of the card reader must be connected with the GND of the sending converter;
>The GND of the access control board must be connected with the GND of the receiving converter;
>Category 5/6 network cable can be used as signal transmission line;
>The card reader should be powered separately if it is more than 100 meters away from the access control main board;
>If you need to supply power to the access control board, it is best to connect the rest of the network cable in parallel to supply power, and only reserve one pair of wires to transmit 485 signals;
>If you cannot receive the signal, please open the cover of the converter and observe the change of the indicator light:
>Working status: red light is on;
>Sending end: the blue light is on when swiping the card;
>Receiving end: the green light is on when the signal is received;
>Converter 485 terminal GND can not be connected under normal circumstances, only AB two wires, such as using shielded transmission line can be connected to the shielding layer;
>Extenders need to be used in pairs in order to function normally, and the user must decode the card number by himself when using it individually;
>The extender supports various Wiegand signal output devices such as password keyboard reader, fingerprint machine, face recognition machine, etc.;
