The access control system has already surpassed the simple doorway and key management, and it has gradually developed into a complete access management system. It plays an important role in administrative management such as working environment safety and personnel attendance management.
Electric locks are usually used in access control systems. Take the following simple access control system as an example. It is composed of access control host, access control card reader, door opening button, electric lock, management software, etc., and electric lock is one of the important links.
Common Access Control System Topology Diagram
The role of the electric lock in the access control system is mainly to control the switch of the door. At present, the electric locks commonly used in the access control system mainly include magnetic locks, electric mortise locks, RIM Locks, etc.

1. Magnetic lock series
1.1 Principle of Magnetic Lock
The design of the magnetic lock is the same as that of the electromagnet, which uses the principle of electromagnetism. When the current passes through the silicon steel sheet, the electromagnetic lock will generate a strong suction force, which will tightly hold the adsorption iron plate to achieve the effect of locking the door. The access control system that controls the power supply of the electromagnetic lock will cut off the power after identifying the correct person, and the electromagnetic lock can open the door when it loses its suction.
1.2 Magnetic lock classification
Magnetic locks can be divided into single-door magnetic locks and double-door magnetic locks. The single door magnetic lock is mainly used for single door type, and the double door magnetic lock is used for double door type.
1.3 Description of the installation method of the magnetic lock
Suitable for wooden doors, glass doors, metal doors, fire doors, etc.
The magnetic lock is powered off to open the door, because one side will be blocked by the magnetic lock, so the door can only be opened in one direction at 90°.
The magnetic lock must be equipped with a bracket. Each single-door magnetic lock is equipped with 1 set of brackets, and each double-door magnetic lock is equipped with 2 sets of brackets.
1.4 Magnetic lock installation example
1.5 Magnetic Lock Bracket
At present, there are two types of brackets commonly used in the market: LZ type and U type. The LZ type can be applied to the lower frame door, the L bracket is used to fix the magnetic lock on the door frame, and the Z type bracket is fixed on the door.
U-shaped can be applied to the lower frameless door (directly snapped into the door)
2. Electric mortise lock series
2.1 Principle of electric mortise lock
The electric mortise lock is also an electronically controlled lock, which drives the extension or retraction of the "bolt" through the on and off of the current to achieve the function of locking or opening the door.
The key part in the lock body is the "bolt", which cooperates with the "lock hole" to realize the two states of "closed" and "opened". That is, the deadbolt is inserted into the lockhole to close the door, and the deadbolt leaves the lockhole to open the door.
2.2 Classification of electric mortise locks
There are generally two types of electric mortise locks, which are suitable for doors with and without frames.
2.3 Description of the installation method of electric mortise lock
The electric mortise lock opens the door when the power is off, and the door can be opened 180°, suitable for glass doors.
For framed glass doors, electric mortise locks must be equipped with U-shaped brackets.
Frameless glass doors, no brackets required.
2.4 electric mortise lock
For the door with no upper and lower frames, use U-shaped lock body and lock hole to snap into the glass door. For the door with frame on the top, slot the lock body to install it into the frame for use.
3.RIM Lock series
3.1 Principle of RIM Lock
RIM Lock effectively combines the advantages of traditional electric control locks and electromagnetic locks, and overcomes the shortcomings of electric control locks such as excessive noise and power consumption of electromagnetic locks. Compared with electric control locks and magnetic locks, RIM Lock is a new product developed. Its performance is more perfect and its advantages are more obvious.
3.2 RIM Lock classification
At present, the common RIM Locks mainly include single-head RIM Lock and double-head RIM Lock. The difference between the two lies in the number of bolts, as shown in the figure below.
3.3 RIM Lock installation instructions
RIM Lock is suitable for wooden doors, iron doors, etc., and is generally used for family doors, community unit doors, etc.
During construction and wiring, the power cord needs to be arranged with 4 cores, 2 cores are used to continuously supply power to the electric lock motor, and the other 2 cores are used to control the electric lock to open the door.
Although the penetration rate of access control electric locks is relatively high today, many people still choose mechanical locks. The access control electric locks in office buildings, enterprise factories, and banks are quite mature, and the proportion of access control systems in households is also increasing its share as people's security awareness increases. However, during the installation and use of electric locks, there are still many points that users need to pay attention to. A qualified installation wiring and use precautions can make the access control system more smooth and safe to use.
With the construction of "safe city" and "smart city", electric locks commonly used in access control systems are divided into two types: power-on unlocking and power-off unlocking. Cut off the power to open the door. However, in the security industry, fire-fighting electric locks generally require the power to be turned off to open the door. Once a fire occurs, the circuit will be powered off and the door will automatically open. Therefore, general security companies will introduce two switch modes when developing products to meet the different needs of users.
As an electric lock product matched with the intelligent building access control system and intercom, the electric mortise lock must be used in close cooperation with the performance, requirements and characteristics of the access control and intercom system in order to effectively play its role. Let's introduce the installation wiring and use precautions of the access control electric lock:
4. Wiring method of access control electric lock
Due to the different types of unlocking methods of access control electric locks, the wiring methods are also divided into two types. According to the wiring port of the electric lock, in general, electric mortise locks, magnetic locks and other types that are unlocked by powering on are connected to the NC port, while electric control Electric locks such as locks and cathode locks are connected to the NO port. During installation, it is worth noting the lock status line and the door status line. The connection of the lock status line can provide the closing information of the lock, and it can be linked with the digital input interface of the access controller to check the closing status of the lock in real time. The door status connection is a good replacement for the problem of separately installing the door sensor, which reduces the installation cost and improves the efficiency of the system.
5. Power supply of access control electric lock
In order to meet the needs of non-used places, the required current and voltage are not much different. However, the number of electric locks managed by each controller will be relatively large, and the use of electric locks is easy to damage the lock due to unstable voltage. Considering the security level requirements, it is recommended to configure an independent electric lock power supply to ensure the current and voltage stability of the electric lock.
6. Open and close delay setting
Many electric locks have a special delay setting jumper or dial device, which can set the delay time of the electric lock, but most access control and intercom systems also have a delay setting function, so it is also best when installing electric locks Considering the delay setting, it makes the user's use more comfortable.
In short, when using and installing the access control electric lock, it is necessary to install and use it according to the standard wire and wiring method of the product description, so as to ensure its stable performance and improve the user's use efficiency.
